Eind april was het weer zo ver. De mooie bloesemboom, een prunus, in mijn voortuin stond in volle bloei. Ieder jaar weer een feest om mee te maken en een feest wat nooit verveelt. Jammer genoeg duurt het feestje nooit zo lang, want na een week begint er roze sneeuw te vallen. Maar ook dat is wel mooi, al denk ik dat sommige buren er niet blij mee zijn.

End April it happened again. The beautiful blossom tree (Prunus) in my front garden was in full bloom. Each year a festivity and one that is never boring. Unfortunately the festivity does not last very long, after a few days pink snow starts to fall. But that is nice too, although I think not all my neighbours are pleased with it.

Net als vorig jaar, ging ik met een fotograferende vriendin weer foto's maken van de bollenvelden op Goeree. Er waren er dit jaar veel minder dan vorig jaar, maar ik begreep inmiddels dat dat per jaar varieert. We moesten dus wat meer rondrijden en zoeken om mooie plaatjes te kunnen schieten, maar waren toch tevreden met de resultaten. Zie verder mijn Picasa webalbum.

Just like last year, I went to the tulip fields on Goeree to make picurtes, with a friend. This year there were a lot less tulipfields, but in the meantime I was told that this varies each year. We had to drive around and search a bit more to make nice pictures, but we were quite happy with the results. See my Picasa webalbum.

Quakjeswater / april 2011

Het blijft toch een geweldig mooi gebied, het Quakjeswater bij Rockanje, onderdeel van het natuurgebied Voornes Duin. Ik was er begin april, toen was alles nog vrij kaal, maar het was een mooie dag met veel zon. Zie voor meer foto's mijn Picasa webalbum.

It remains a wonderful area, the "Quakjeswater" near Rockanje, part of the natural reserve Voornes Duin. I was there early april, when everything was still rather barren, but it was a fine day, with a lot of sunshine. For more pictures, see my Picasa webalbum.

Sinds het Slufterstrand bij de Maasvlakte gesloten is vanwege de werkzaamheden voor de 2e Maasvlakte, het gaat pas weer open in 2012, mis ik mijn plekje om mooie zonsondergangen te fotograferen. Op zoek naar een andere plek kwam ik terecht in Hellevoetsluis, zie onderstaande foto's en de complete serie op Picasa.

Ever since the Slufter Beach near the Maasvlakte was closed as a result of the construction of Maasvlakte II, it will reopen in 2012, I miss the spot where I can make pictures of nice sunsets. Looking for another place, I arrived in Hellevoetsluis, see above photos and the complete set on Picasa.

De heropeningsborrel bij Galerie Agnes in Brielle was een groot succes! Wij ontvingen zo rond de 50 bezoekers, die onder het genot van een hapje en een drankje de vernieuwde galerie en nieuwe collectie bezichtigen. Moe maar voldaan sloten we rond 18.00 uur de deuren achter ons.

Heropening Galerie Agnes 6-2-2011

The reopening party at Galerie Agnes in Brielle was a great success! We received arounnd 50 visitors, who, while enjoying snacks and drinks, looked at the renovated gallery and the new art collection. Tired but satisfied we closed the doors at around 18.00 hrs.

Met veel plezier meld ik dat ik per 1 februari 2011 zal deelnemen aan Galerie Agnes in Brielle. Dit is een kleine, intieme galerie, gevestigd midden in het centrum van het mooie vestingstadje Brielle, in het zuid-westen van Nederland, vlakbij de markante Sint-Catharijnekerk, die vanuit de omgeving van verre opvalt. In Galerie Agnes presenteren 4 kunstenaars hun werk. Zie de website van Galerie Agnes en een fotoimpressie.

???Er staan nog een paar heel oude panden in mijn dorp (Zwartewaal/ZH) en deze oude raampjes vind ik erg mooi, juist met de toegevoegde graffiti. Ik hoop dat de eigenaren van het pand niet besluiten ze te gaan opknappen, dat zou jammer zijn.

My village (Zwartewaal, province Zuidholland) still has a few very old buildings. I like these old windows very much, even with the graffiti on them. I really hope the owners of this building will not decide to renovate them, that would be a pity.

Vandaag hadden we bij Kunstkring Voorne in Zwartewaal een Kees van Dongen-schilderdag georganiseerd. Vorige week zaterdag waren we met een groep van Kunstkring Voorne-leden naar Museum Boijmans in Rotterdam geweest om daar de expositie "De grote Ogen van Kees van Dongen" te bezoeken. Vandaag gingen we met ruim 10 mensen portretten schilderen met Kees van Dongen als inspiratie. We hadden 2 leuke modellen, gekleed in de stijl van de vrouwen van die tijd. Hieronder een overzicht van de resultaten en het portret wat ik maakte.

At Art Circle Voorne in Zwartewaal we today had organised a Kees Van Dongen Painting Day. Last week we visited the Kees van Dongen exhibition in the Boijmans van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam. Today we painted portraits with a group of around 10 people, inspired by Kees van Dongen. We had 2 nice models, dressed in the style of that era. Below an overview of the results and the portrait I made.
